John Diehl is senior vice president of Strategic Markets for Hartford Funds. He and his team are responsible for engaging and educating financial advisors and their clients about current and emerging opportunities in the financial-services marketplace. These opportunities range from tactical strategies in areas such as retirement-income planning, investment planning, and charitable planning, to anticipating and preparing for long-term demographic and lifestyle changes. John also oversees Hartford Funds’ relationship with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology AgeLab.

John joined the company in 1988 and was promoted to assistant vice president in 1991 and vice president in 1997. He was named senior vice president in 2007, while he led the Retirement and Wealth Consulting Group, which was responsible for building awareness and knowledge of retirement challenges and the latest planning strategies to address them. In 2012, John was named Senior Vice President, Strategic Markets; in this role, he devotes his efforts to serving the needs of financial advisors and their clients.

John has been widely quoted in consumer and trade publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Financial Planning, and On Wall Street. He has also appeared as a featured guest on CNBC and Bloomberg Television to discuss his views on retirement-related topics.

John attended Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics. He has been a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) since 1991. In addition, he holds the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) designations. He is also FINRA Series 6, 7, 63, and 26 registered and holds a life and variable insurance license.

Bill is part of the Strategic Markets Team for Hartford Funds. In his current position, Bill is responsible for engaging and educating both financial advisors and their clients about current and emerging opportunities in the financial-services marketplace. These opportunities range from tactical strategies in areas such as retirement-income planning, investment planning, and charitable planning, to anticipating and preparing for long-term demographic and lifestyle changes.

Bill joined the organization in 2003 as an advisor consultant responsible for marketing Hartford Funds in Virginia and West Virginia. Bill earned his Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) designation, is FINRA Series 7 and 63 registered, and holds his life and variable insurance licenses.

Bill has been widely quoted in consumer and trade publications such as US News and World Report and Wealth Management.com. He has also appeared as a featured guest on Bloomberg Radio to discuss his views on retirement-related topics.

Originally from Smithville, New Jersey, Bill attended the University of Pennsylvania where he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science. He currently lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Michael Lynch

Michael Lynch is Vice President of Strategic Markets for Hartford Funds. In his current role, Mike is responsible for engaging and educating both financial advisors and their clients about current and emerging opportunities in the financial-services marketplace. These opportunities range from tactical strategies in areas such as retirement-income planning, investment planning, and charitable planning, to anticipating and preparing for long-term demographic and lifestyle changes.

Mike joined the organization in 1993 as an annuity client service specialist. In 1997, he joined the Advanced Product Marketing department, where he developed an extensive knowledge of estate and retirement planning. In 2004, Mike became a regional sales director. In 2006, he became Vice President and national director of The Hartford’s Retirement and Wealth Consulting Group, which provided thought leadership and financial education focused on retirement and small-business planning. In 2012, he joined The Hartford Mutual Funds.

Mike earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Eastern Connecticut State University. Mike is a registered representative of Hartford Funds Distributors. He is FINRA Series 6, 63, and 26 registered and holds a life, health and variable insurance license. He currently lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, with his wife, Kim, and their children, Josh, and Em.

Bob Glovsky is Vice Chair and a Principal of The Colony Group. Prior to joining The Colony Group in July 2012, Bob was a founder and the President of Mintz Levin Financial Advisors, which provided wealth management and investment advisory services to individuals and families. Bob brings more than 30 years of experience in financial and tax planning and money management with a focus on asset allocation and investment strategies.

Bob was recently appointed by President Obama to serve as a member on the President’s Advisory Council on Financial Capability for Young Americans. Bob also currently serves as a charter member of the Fidelity Institutional Wealth Services Advisor Council and is a former member of the Fidelity Research Institute’s Advisory Council. Bob served as 2010 Chair of the Board of Directors of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. He also has served as Chair of the Board of Examiners of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, which sets standards for financial planning professionals worldwide. He has lectured and spoken extensively throughout the country on financial planning topics.

Bob is the Director Emeritus of Boston University’s Financial Planning Program, the largest CFP® Board registered program in New England and one of the largest in the country. He was honored in 2010 for his service, and the Robert J. Glovsky Scholarship Fund was created to help fund financial planning education for qualified candidates choosing to assist the underserved population.

Worth magazine selected Bob as one of the “Best Financial Advisors in the Country” eight consecutive times, and he was also listed in Mutual Fund magazine’s “Nation’s Top 100 Financial Advisors.” In 2014, Barron’s chose Bob as one of the “Top 100 Independent Financial Advisors” for the seventh time and he made Boston Magazine‘s list of “Five Star Wealth Managers” in 2010 and 2011. In addition, Bob has been the feature in Financial Planning magazine three times. His expertise was broadcast for over eight years when he served as co-host of The Money Experts on Boston radio and of The Financial Planners on cable television, and he is regularly quoted in publications, including the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Business Week, the Washington Post, the Boston Globe, and the Boston Herald.

Because of his commitment to community service, Bob was honored by the Financial Planning Association with a 2011 Heart of Financial Planning Award and awarded the highest honor bestowed by the Boston University School of Law, the Silver Shingle for Distinguished Service to the School of Law.

Stephen Parnell

Stephen Parnell

Stephen Parnell is a director of strategic markets for Hartford Funds. In this role, he presents timely and relevant content for the benefit of financial firms, advisors, and their clients, and works with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology AgeLab to build awareness and knowledge of aging and retirement challenges and life planning strategies.

Stephen originally joined the company in 2005, and rejoined the company in 2016. Prior to rejoining, he acted as retirement plan specialist and managing director for Parnell Retirement Plan Consulting. In his former position, Stephen worked with plan sponsors to help them better understand trends in qualified and non-qualified plans. With more than 30 years of experience in the industry, his expertise and focus included retirement plan design, IRS/DOL compliance solutions, participant/employee education, and distribution strategies.

Stephen has been a speaker and panelist at numerous regional and national events and conferences. He has conducted several hundred continuing professional education courses, as well as nationally televised education through National Registry of CPE Sponsors offered by National Association of State Boards of Accountancy.
