Background

Robert L. Deresiewicz, Senior Managing Director and Global Industry Analyst, is involved in portfolio management and securities analysis for the Hartford Healthcare Fund. Bob is a biotechnology analyst and member of Wellington’s health care team within Global Industry Research. He conducts fundamental research on companies within his coverage, and makes Buy/Sell recommendations to portfolio managers based on his findings and market conditions. He also participates in the management of several health care and biotechnology sector portfolios.

Prior to joining Wellington Management in 2000, Bob was an assistant professor of medicine at the Harvard Medical School, and an associate physician in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where he treated patients, taught medical students, and conducted biomedical research (1990 – 1998). He trained in infectious disease at the Harvard Medical School (1987 – 1990), in tropical medicine at the Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem (1986 – 1987), and in internal medicine at the Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York (1983 – 1986). 

Bob received his MBA from the Harvard Business School (2000), his MD from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine (1983), and his BA in biochemistry summa cum laude from Columbia University (1979). He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases and was an elected fellow of the American College of Physicians and of the Infectious Disease Society of America.
