Saul J. Pannell, CFA, Senior Managing Director and Equity Portfolio Manager, is a portfolio manager for the Hartford Capital Appreciation Fund and is involved in portfolio management and securities analysis for the Hartford Global Capital Appreciation Fund. Saul is an equity portfolio manager at Wellington Management. He led the firm’s entry into two equity styles: Research Equity (1990) and Capital Appreciation (1994). Today he manages mutual funds and institutional portfolios in the Capital Appreciation style.
His career at Wellington Management began in 1974 and includes 17 years as a global industry research analyst specializing in a number of industries, particularly aerospace and electrical equipment. Saul also participates in numerous in-house policy and strategy groups, including the Capital Appreciation Group, Hedge Fund Review Group, and the Research Advisory Group. He also serves as vice chair of the firm’s Executive Committee.
Saul received his MBA from Harvard Business School (1974) and his AB in economics, cum laude, from Harvard College (1972). In addition to holding the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, Saul is a member of the Boston Security Analysts Society and the CFA Institute.
