What’s Happening with LIBOR—and Why You Should Care

The London Interbank Offered Rate (LIBOR) is expected to be gradually replaced by other benchmarks. What are the potential ramifications?


In July 2017, the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), which regulates the London Interbank Offered Rate, or, LIBOR, signaled its intention to phase out this key market interest rate by the end of 2021. However, there is a high likelihood that LIBOR will continue to be published in some form beyond then.
