Convertible bonds1 offer a unique way for a fixed-income strategy to take advantage of dislocations in the capital markets. But what is a convertible bond?

1 A convertible bond is a fixed-income corporate debt security that yields interest payments, but can be converted into a predetermined number of common stock or equity shares. The conversion from the bond to stock can be done at certain times during the bond's life and is usually at the discretion of the bondholder.

Important Risks: Investing involves risk, including the possible loss of principal. • Fixed income security risks include credit, liquidity, call, duration, and interest-rate risk. As interest rates rise, bond prices generally fall. Diversification does not ensure a profit or protect against a loss in a declining market.
