Walter is general counsel for Hartford Funds.
Before becoming general counsel, Walter served as director of the Wealth Management law group of The Hartford. In that capacity he had oversight of all legal support for the business units making up Hartford Life’s Wealth Management division. Walter was also previously the director of investment law supporting Hartford Investment Management Company.
Prior to joining the organization in 1995, Walter was an associate in the commercial finance area of Bingham McCutchen (formerly Bingham, Dana & Gould) representing banks, insurance companies, and other institutional lenders. He was also previously an associate at Dewey Ballantine, practicing in the commercial finance and corporate areas.
Walter received a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science in 1987 from Fairfield University and his J.D. (juris doctor) in 1990 from Pace University School of Law. Walter is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, New York, and Connecticut.
