Tom leads a team of attorneys and other legal professionals and oversees the legal functions in support of the firm. In this role, Tom provides advice regarding the firm’s current business activities and strategic growth initiatives. Tom also serves as the corporate secretary for the Hartford Funds Family of Funds and oversees the legal support for the Funds’ Boards of Directors/Trustees and corporate governance matters.

Tom has over 25 years of experience as an investment management attorney. Prior to joining Hartford Funds in 2017, he was a director and chief legal officer for Saturna Capital Corporation, and a partner and deputy general counsel at Lord, Abbett & Co., LLC. Tom started his legal career as an associate attorney at Stradley Ronon Stevens and Young LLP, and later was an associate attorney at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP.

Originally from Bethesda, Maryland, Tom attended Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania where he received a bachelor’s degree in government affairs, cum laude, and Temple University School of Law, where he earned his juris doctorate, magna cum laude. Prior to attending law school, Tom served on active duty as military intelligence officer.
