Background

Kevin Murphy is an Emerging Markets Corporate Debt portfolio manager. Kevin works closely with our Emerging Markets Debt Investment team to develop investment strategy in the sector.

Kevin joined Wellington Management in 2016. Prior to that, he worked at Putnam (1999 – 2016) as the lead portfolio manager responsible for all external sovereign and corporate emerging market debt investments across a range of different strategies, as well as the lead portfolio manager for the investment-grade corporate credit exposure in all of Putnam’s funds. In addition, he co-led a credit team based in Boston and London. Prior to joining Putnam, Kevin worked at BancBoston (1996 – 1999) as a managing director on the Emerging Markets Derivative Products Group and as the vice president of the Commodity Finance, Commodity Derivatives, and Structured Asset Groups at ING Baring Securities in New York City (1991 – 1996). Earlier in his career, Kevin was an assistant treasurer for the Emerging Markets trading team at ING and a senior consultant for investment banks at Andersen Consulting in Chicago.

Kevin received his BS in electrical engineering from Columbia University’s School of Engineering and Applied Science (1987).
