Background

Mark A. Yarger, CFA is a quantitative analyst in Wellington Management’s Quantitative Investment Group. Mark focuses on the research and development of quantitative investment models and portfolio construction tools. He divides his time between quantitative research, research tool development, and enhancing the portfolio management platform.

Prior to joining the Quantitative Investment Group in 2005, Mark worked in Investment Systems as a systems analyst developing quantitative applications (2000 – 2005). Before joining the firm in 2000, he worked as the director of Quantitative Research at York Management and Research, a Florida-based hedge fund (1994 – 2000). In this role, he produced security-selection models, risk-modeling tools, and a portfolio-optimization framework. Previously, he worked at Instinet (1994 – 1995) and Frontier Financial (1991 – 1994) developing quantitative research tools.

Mark received his MBA, summa cum laude, from Babson College and studied political science at American University. Additionally, he holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute.
